She has alienated her kids, broken up with her boyfriend and lost her butler. She realizes what a friend Bob has been to her and her family and becomes determined to get him back. Ultimately, Anne and Bob get back together, and although Bob is always an accident waiting to happen, she and the kids love him anyway. The story also includes the woeful drunken motel manager, a prostitute working to support two small children, a small time hustler, an underachieving salesman, the former KGB owner of the motel, his physics studying daughter, and a social worker with a Christian bias.
The needs of these people, their obvious failings, the sordid unlucky conditions of their lives make them so vulnerable that they can careen from the disturbing to the hilarious in a breathless instant. By chance Vincent, disguised as a priest to escape his pursuers, is noticed by two policemen who take him to be Claude Laurin, one of their squad whom everyone believes to be on holiday in Cuba. Knowing that he'll be unmasked when the real cop, whose identity he has assumed, returns, Vincent takes the opportunity to devise an incredible plan with his friend Dieudonné (Luck Mervil).
